Trio Los Laureles performs authentic Latin American folk music featuring virtuoso guitar and percussion. Borrowing from genres and traditions such as the mariachi, Afro Cuban, Latin bolero, and many more, they craft each song with memorable arrangements that feature beautiful guitar melodies, infectious rhythms and stunning three part-vocal harmonies. The group is comprised by Emiliano Flores, Jaime Chinchilla, and Victor Bustamante.
After their first year together, the trio has quickly become a staple of the multicultural music scene in Winnipeg, transporting listeners to idyllic and warm places in Latin America with each performance. While they work on recording their original songs on their first studio work produced by Chinchilla himself, the trio is focusing on a packed post pandemic calendar of what they insist in calling “Serenatas”(serenades).
Orquesta Son D’Arranke is a Canadian act based in Winnipeg, MB who are currently promoting their first batch of original songs. They aim at making people dance and experience the whole variety of Latin Rhythms in an entirely new fashion. Their musical approach is to innovate while paying homage to tradition. You will hear the most authentic Afro-Latin rhythms in their set merge with modern synths, pop sounds, and powerful original lyrics. Their mission is to captivate fans with danceable rhythms while proposing a new way to experience Latin culture. Fans have described their sound as a “powerful train that makes it irresistible to stay in your chair.”
The band was formed in 2019 just before the pandemic of COVID 19 hit the world. They used the down time for extensive practice sessions that would witness the birth of original songs. With some of Winnipeg’s most sought-after musicians as members, the band resolves the conflict that every newcomer carries when living in their new home: to pay homage to traditions and culture while adapting to an entirely new reality. Son D’Arranke is an example of how multiculturalism can flourish in a creative space: as their members hail from countries such as Venezuela, Colombia, El Salvador, and Chile.
The orchestra is led by Jaime Torres and Michelle Zabaro, the main songwriter/arranger and the charismatic front woman respectively. Together they cook the most irresistible musical recipe: you either surrender to their lyrics and exotic sonorities or to the call that their hand drums make to your feet.
